Fall Porch: My Safe Haven

Fall Porch: My Safe Haven

It’s no secret that our porch and patio are my two favorite spaces of our home. While I love decorating and designing indoors, I believe that in South GA, a good porch is a must! If you are in the designing process of your home, I highly recommend adding a safe haven for your family like a porch or patio. I don’t update mine much seasonally, but here are a few tips for updating your space for fall:

  • Start with a fall color palette:
  • I love keeping most pieces like seating, rug, tables, etc a neutral color to reflect all seasons, but for fall, leaning towards green and gray is a great way to add new life to your space! Items like blankets, pillows, and small decor items being green or gray is a great way to subtly add these colors in!

  • Incorporate Seasonal Greenery
  • I keep my yards and flowers up year round, but if you’re not someone who does that, adding in small pots of greenery on the porch for the fall is a great way to add texture, color, and festive feel.

  • Layer in Cozy Textures/Textiles
  • A great way to add a level of coziness to your porch is to switch up some pillows and blankets! I add in a textured throw blanket, and switch my pillow covers to a darker pattern than summertime! Adding in these textures and darker colors makes a huge difference in the overall feel and look of the space!

  • Set the Mood
  • Whether you’re enjoying time alone by yourself or hosting family and friends, I always recommend adding your favorite cocktail glasses, coasters, and candles! These items take coziness to the next level. My favorite for fall is a wooden tray, fall scented candle, and matches!

If you’re wanting to create a small sanctuary in your home for your family and friends, let’s chat. I hope that these tips can be helpful to you as we move into the fall season! Here’s to a cozy and memorable fall!
